She's got folks to look after her. Friends. [He wouldn't leave her behind for any length of time if he didn't trust that. If he didn't trust that staying behind would ultimately be safer for her than going with him.

Maybe he trusts others with her more than himself, in some ways.]

[Yet another pause.]

Does she know how to use a weapon? I know that Raleigh guy is teaching her to fight, but what about guns and stuff?

Ah. Not really, no. She never learned how and I've only got the one, here. And not nearly enough ammo for target practice.

[It's kind of a flimsy excuse, and he knows it.]

I haven't used it at all since I got here.

You should find her a knife or something.

[At least. Even if she's not entirely confident in using it, Sarah shouldn't ever be in a position where she can't at least fight back. Knowing how to bite and scrap is good and all, but men can be big and far too strong for tiny fists to harm.]

Yeah. I'll see what I can find when we get up there.

There aren't any real weapons to be found around here, aside from what we came with.

[He's a little reluctant, but as usual, Ellie is right on the money. Much as he wants to shelter Sarah from the bad stuff, doing that will only lead to tragedy - again.]

Yeah. I'm missing a ton of my stuff.

You're tellin' me. All I got was my revolver and my gas mask - which is goddamn pointless here, despite that picture on the billboard.

I miss that flamethrower.

I didn't fare much better. [Like hell she's volunteering what she got, though. She's not sure how to bring up that picture of Joel and Sarah without making things more awkward than they already are.]

Maybe we should get you a knife, too. Joel-sized.

There's other things we can use. Lots of old wood and piece of pipe - scavenging for that stuff is easy, anyway.

And I've been makin' shivs.

Right. Well... at least you'll be able to carry more, now.

I still miss my stuff. I gotta work out if there's somethin' to make nail bombs with.

Yeah. Newt and Hermann might be able to help. Newt's the one that's got all that scrap on the table in my building.
